The Problem
Hundreds of thousands of Senegalese informal daily workers (security guards, housekeepers, handlers, babysitters) live without any social protection, contract, or possibility of accessing credit. Employers (households, SMEs, construction sites) struggle to quickly find reliable and verified workers. Cash payments generate frequent disputes and prevent the creation of a valuable financial history.
The Opportunity
Formalization of informal employment is a priority for the ILO and the Senegalese government. The daily employment market in West Africa is estimated at hundreds of billions FCFA. Payment digitization (Wave covers 90% of Senegalese workers) enables the creation of a financial history that opens access to microloans.
The Concept
GënëkJobs lets an employer post a daily job offer in 2 minutes (type of work, duration, location, rate) and receive applications from verified workers within the hour. Each worker is verified (national ID, photo, skills, previous employer reviews). A digital mini-contract is automatically generated and electronically signed. Payment is made via Wave at the end of the day. Each worker accumulates a 'GënëkScore' based on their reviews and payment history, usable to access microloans through financial partners.
