GëwëlBox — Live Culture & Entertainment

Live streaming and online ticketing platform dedicated to Senegalese music, theater, and shows, with retransmission for the diaspora.

Problem

The Problem

Senegalese artists (mbalax, rap, theater) have no digital infrastructure to sell tickets online and monetize their events beyond the physical venue. The Senegalese diaspora of over 700,000 people is cut off from local cultural events. Organizers lose considerable revenue from unsecured ticketing (fake tickets, informal sales).

Opportunity

The Opportunity

The online ticketing market in Africa is growing at 25% per year. Post-COVID cultural streaming has proven that the African diaspora pays to watch their artists live from abroad. Youssou N'Dour, Wally Seck, and major Tabaski events draw crowds of 5,000 to 50,000 without any digital ticketing infrastructure.

The Concept

GëwëlBox is a dual platform: secure online ticketing with anti-fraud QR codes for physical events in Dakar, and paid live streaming for the global diaspora. Organizers create their event independently and GëwëlBox handles ticket sales, payment (Wave, card, PayPal for diaspora) and HD streaming. Commission is 8% on physical ticketing and 15% on streaming. A monthly 'GëwëlPass' subscription at 5,000 FCFA gives unlimited access to streamed events.

The "Secret Sauce" (USP)

  • Anti-fraud QR code: each ticket is unique and scanned at entry — no more fake tickets costing organizers millions
  • Diaspora streaming: monetize every event among Senegalese in Paris, New York, Dubai — multiply artist revenue by 3 with no additional cost
  • Diaspora GëwëlPass: monthly subscription that retains the global cultural community and creates predictable recurring revenue for the platform

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

To get started quickly:

Ticketing website with QR codes (Stripe + Wave), streaming via paid private YouTube Live, tested at 3 cultural events in Dakar (200 to 500 tickets each).
