The Problem
In Senegal, thousands of sellers on Instagram and Facebook lose sales every day due to lack of integrated ordering and payment infrastructure. Customers must send a private message, wait for a response, and pay by manual Wave transfer — a slow and risky process. Jumia and global platforms charge high commissions (15-25%) and payment delays to sellers of 30 to 45 days.
The Opportunity
Social commerce already represents 60% of online purchases in Senegal (Instagram and WhatsApp shops). The Senegalese e-commerce market doubles every 2 years, driven by connected 18-35 year olds. A local platform that reduces purchasing friction can capture a significant share of the 300 billion FCFA spent online each year.
The Concept
SunuMarket is a mobile app where sellers create their shop in 10 minutes and add products with photos. Each seller gets a shareable shop link for Instagram/WhatsApp. Customers order and pay in 2 clicks (Wave, Orange Money, card). The seller receives their payment within 24 hours. An integrated live shopping system enables selling live during video sessions. SunuMarket takes 8% commission, half of Jumia, and delivers through its logistics partner network.
