The Problem
The vast majority of Senegalese store their savings under the mattress or in tontines due to simple lack of access to financial products. Senegalese Treasury bonds (6 to 8% annual return) are reserved for institutional investors through complex administrative processes. Middle-class Senegalese are unaware of mutual funds and don't know how to buy shares on the BRVM.
The Opportunity
The BRVM (Regional Securities Exchange) shows a market cap of 15,000 billion FCFA but the number of retail investors remains marginal. The Senegalese government encourages Treasury bond investments to finance infrastructure projects. African investment fintechs like Bamboo (Nigeria) and Bictory (Ghana) have demonstrated massive adoption among millennials.
The Concept
WëccuFi allows investing from 1,000 FCFA in Senegalese Treasury bonds, mutual funds, and BRVM-listed stocks in a few clicks via Wave or card.
